How to Connect ShoppingFeeder to your WooCommerce store

If you know anything about eCommerce, you’ll know that WooCommerce is one of the most popular platforms available. Woocommerce is an eCommerce plugin that is used within WordPress, which is one of the largest content management systems around and is available for free.

If you’re looking for an easy solution for your eCommerce store’s data needs, look no further than ShoppingFeeder for WooCommerce!

By using WooCommerce and the ShoppingFeeder extension, you can easily manage and distribute the data needed for your WordPress store. We’ll tell you everything you need to know to get started.

Step 1: Begin the Setup Process

The first step is to register and create a ShoppingFeeder account. In this process, you’ll be guided through a step-by-step Setup Wizard to get your store connected to ShoppingFeeder.

Once you’ve signed in to your ShoppingFeeder account for the first time, you’ll be presented with the Setup Wizard. Click Next to proceed with the setup process.

Step 2: Enter your store’s information

Once you’ve made it to the next page, it’s time to start adding some more information that is specific to your score. You’ll be presented with a screen where you can enter your store’s name, URL, the currency that your products will be sold in, location/country, and category language.

If you are unsure of what any of these fields actually consist of, you can simply hover your cursor over the ‘?’ icon for a description of the required information. ShoppingFeeder is all about keeping things simple!

Once you’ve typed in your store’s URL e.g. www.wooshop.com’, you’ll have to select the appropriate shopping cart platform for your store. In this case, you must select Woocommerce.

This is because the setup process differs according to the platform, so make sure you select the right option from the beginning!

Once you’ve satisfied with the information you’ve entered and chosen WooCommerce as your platform, click Next.

Step  3: Enter Additional Store Information

The next page is where you can add more detailed information relating to the products and operations of your e-commerce store. We know that this can seem complicated, so some of the things you can add here include:

  • Enable Variants:  By selecting this option, you will create separate offers for each product variant in your inventory. For example, if you are selling an item that is available in three different colors or styles and ‘Enables Variants’ is selected, ShoppingFeeder will create three unique offers (one for each color/style) instead of one offer (for one color/style only).
  • Rename Variants: By turning this option on, ShoppingFeeder will add the name of your variant to the end of the product title. For example, if you are selling women’s clothing,  you should be seeing product titles such as ‘Evening Dress / Red / Size 32’ and ‘Evening Dress / Black / Size 34’ with this option and Enabled Variants turned on.

At this stage, you will also be prompted to enter the weight units of your products (such as kilograms, ounces or pounds) as well as your shipping charges, product conditions, and broader store description. Once you’re satisfied with your settings, click Next.

Step 4: Connect your store to ShoppingFeeder

At this stage, your store has had some information filled out but you’re not yet connected to ShoppingFeeder.

The first step is to click on ‘Click here to get the plugin/module’ to download the ShoppingFeeder plugin, then follow the instructions as listed.

You will be shown your unique API Key and API Secret in the paragraph below. All you need to do is copy and paste the API Key and API Secret as instructed for the specific platform (WooCommerce) to a different document (Notepad, Word, Notes, Google Docs, or whatever else is available to you).

After you’ve saved the API Key and API Secret somewhere,  click Next to continue with the setup

Step 5: Upload plugin to WooCommerce

Now, you’ll need to add the plugin to your WooCommerce store. First, head to your WordPress Dashboard

From the Dashboard, navigate to the Plugins tab, and from here, you’ll need to search for the ShoppingFeeder plugin.

Once you’ve found the ShoppingFeeder plugin, click on Install Now to begin installing the ShoppingFeeder plugin. You can also choose to click Upload Plugin to upload the zip folder that was downloaded previously.

Once the installation is complete, click on Activate to enable ShoppingFeeder for your WooCommerce store.

5. Configuring the ShoppingFeeder Plugin

You’re making some great progress here, so keep it up!

The next thing you’ll need to do is configure your API Key and API Secret. These two keys are provided to you in the Setup Wizard, which you should have saved in an accessible location. To start the configuration process, go to Plugins in your WordPress Dashboard and select Settings for the ShoppingFeeder plugin as listed on this page.

Once you’re at the ShoppingFeeder settings page, you can simply insert the API Key and API Secret you copied and saved earlier. Once this is done, remember to save your changes.

Step 6: Subscribe to channels

The hardest part is now over! Next, we’ll return to ShoppingFfeeder to complete your setup.

Now that the ShoppingFeeder app is installed, your products will begin syncing in the background.

Next, we’ll start adding your product listings to various channels, including platforms like PriceCheck, GoogleShopping, Gumtree, and more.

To start listing your products on your desired channels, type the channel name in the Search box, and tick the checkbox next to the channel you want to subscribe to. You will also see a list forming. Once you’ve chosen all of the channels you want, click on Next.

Step 7: Channel setup

This step directly relates to the previous step. You will be reviewing your settings for the channels you just subscribed to.

Here, you will select which products you want to be included in your feed. You could choose all of your products, products in stock, out of stock products, and/or pre-ordered products. You can leave the UTM boxes empty at this stage, as this can be modified from the dashboard later.

Once you’ve chosen your products to be included in your feed, click on Save.

The Setup Wizard will confirm your channel setup. You can proceed to click on Next once you’ve added product information for each channel.

Step 8: Completing your setup

Congratulations on successfully installing and activating ShoppingFeeder for WooCommerce!

If you made it this far, that means that you have successfully set up your store!

ShoppingFeeder will now show you a list of the next steps to take to ensure your product listings are updated with the correct information. Click on Finish.

Step 9: Platform Tour and using the ShoppingFeeder dashboard

Now that you’ve completed the Setup Wizard for your e-commerce store, you should follow the ShoppingFeeder Platform Tour to guide you through all of ShoppingFeeder’s dashboard features. Simply click on the grey arrow to navigate and progress with the tour.

Once you’ve finished the Platform Tour, you’ll be able to see how many of your products are imported on your dashboard. This is displayed in the box that reads ‘Products Imported’.  You will also receive a confirmation email to notify you of successful product imports as they continue.

In the top right-hand corner of your ShoppingFeeder dashboard, click on the Setup box to see a checklist of steps to follow that will allow you to create your feed.

We’ve set up a Progress Checklist for this step. Your Progress Checklist will tell you the percentage of tasks completed and will show you a list of remaining tasks that you must complete. If you’re unsure of what to do, you can simply hover your cursor over the ‘?’ icon for more detailed descriptions of each task.

If you’re truly stuck, click on Read More to open ShoppingFeeder resources. Here, you’ll find detailed guides for completing each step in the Progress Checklist.
